The
information below represents the latest news and what is happening
or coming up at Wallmasters International (and a bit of
history too!).
6/29/08- Remember
no meeting next week, July 4, 2008. We'll all be back
on July 11, 2008.
6/27/08-June was a guest today,
returning to see the club she once belonged. Dick tried
on his TM shoes today and found they still fit. Ted started
us off with "Are you well informed? Can you be trusted?".
Joe stepped up next and shared "Through the heart
of a child" and took us to the soccer field. Bob
P. then arose and presented "Death of a peoples dream".
He caught many by surprise as he shared a true story and
bordered a few on tears. Bob's delivery was worth the
Best Speaker of the day.
Renee was challenged to evaluate
Bob P. She paid close attention to detail and offered
Bob a few opportunities for next time. Renee evaluated
her way to best Evaluator for the day.
Lee shared he reasoning for breaking
the rules of where to take his dog and snapped up Best
Table Topics today.
6/20/08-Crystal, Shane, Peter and Marvin visited
us today, Marvin is a member from Vancouver. You all have
impressed him enough to revisit us for ideas. Renee talked
to us about "Taking charge of daily renewal".
Can you believe we are a new person evert seven years?
Phyllis reminded us that many items are "Lost in
plain sight" as she revealed how she lost her car
in the parking lot. Sean was working on an advanced manual
assignment where he gave his evaluator five topics to
pick from. Simon picked a topic and Sean convinced us
to award him with the Best speaker of the day. Simon has
been making fantastic progress in evaluating. That transformed
his evaluation today into an award winning event as he
picked up the Best Evaluator. Sonja was pressed to get
in four Table Topics participants. Raylene didn't let
that deter her performance as she shared a summer that
was interupted by Mono and she missed going to Europe.
6/13/08-Tim and Jean attended as guests today.
Three fun speeches with Raylene starting off talking
about ROWE, then Kristina came up and talked with our
bodies. Stan came back to give us the 4 "T"s
of success. Stan's success was followed with Best Speaker
today. We had some awesome evaluations with Bob P. picking
up Best Evaluator as TT eval. Best Table Topics was captured
by Lee as he became Julia Child for us.
6/6/08-Carol and Mark came as guests today. This
was Rodger's first time as Toastmaster. Can you believe
we had no "propwash"? Rodger began his service
to the role of Toastmaster early this past week to insure
he ran a smooth meeting. Well done Rodger. Two speakers
with Mark B. doing a video and using props for us. Sherry
stepped in to tell us about "Smart animal trips".
What a great job of telling us a fun story and winding
her way into an important topic of giving praise when
just. Since Mark was taping today's meeting he was voted
Best Speaker for the Day.
Many good evaluations with Miles
doing "great" job today and running away with
Best Evaluator. Bob P. tied the theme right into Table
Topics. Paul seemed to have pulled a little wool over
a few eyes as he easily snatched up the Best Table topics
award.

5/30/08-28 fantastic folks showed up for another
fantabulous passage in the life of Wallmasters.
Three well prepared speakers with Bob J. starting off
with a little "snake oil". Brenda then stepped
up with an in class exercise to help us "Balance".
Paul then stepped up and did a gutsy stunt by singing
"The Time of Your Life". There weren't any recording
execs available to sign him up but Wallmasters voted him
Best Speaker of the day.
There were many great evaluations
today and the General evaluator Dick was able to supplement
the others with pleny of useful info and walked away with
the Best Evaluator for the day. Raylene did a superb job
with Table Topics asking the question of your time. Sherry's
rendition of her time on The Price is Right was outstanding.
We were convinced and she won the prize of Best Table
Topics.
5/23/08-If one of you writes up the happenings
I'll post it for the group.
5/16/08-Miles covertly stepped up and
took on the role of Toastmaster today. No
guests today. Two prepared speakers today with Pam starting
us off with an informative talk about early childhood
eye disease prevention. Phil then enlightened us with
his Ice Breaker. We saw through Pam's speech and awarded
her the Best Speaker of the day. Kristina
definitely had fun today with the theme, "My
Little secret". she set out to have us reveal those
deep dark secrets we thought were buried. Joe picked off
the best Table Topics with his rendition of what happened
with that girl in the closet.
5/9/08-Emily, Clinton and Konnie visited us today.
Dan S. took our picture and did his ice breaker. Kristina
stepped up and shared information about depression. Phyllis
lead off talking about "germs", sneezing, coughing
and spreading of germs. In a motherly fashion
of course. Phyliss' prescription is to
wash your hands and our prescription was Best Speaker
for the day to Phyliss. Daniel's evaluation of Dan was
done with finess and aplomb which
captured him Best Evaluator.
5/2/08-What happened, everyone contemplating
Table Topics today. It was great. No guests either. Joe
gave his ice breaker this morning and now we know he can
"press" anyone of us since he used to press
580#. Brenda gave us "Rewind" today and wound
up with the Best Speaker of the Day. Bob P. did her evaluation
and picked up Best Evaluator. We had a plethora
of Table Topics from Dick's bag of tricks. Lee jumped
up on the table and proceeded to show
us the many uses of a hose end nozzle and sprayed enough
on votes that he walked away with the Best Table Topics
4/25/08-Kristine and Jeff attended as guests
today. With an expected canopy of sun today we
met for a rousting meeting of 35 folks. Ted started us
off with lots of information about Bolivia, where he just
returned from. Joel stepped back up and "inspired"
us and took the Best Speaker of the day. Brian gave us
his ice breaker today and we found out he used to speak
before. Erik W. "skewered" the voting and Danielle
picked up the Best Evaluator. I'm slowly rubbing those
tire marks, from the bus, off. Paul explained why one
worker didn't have any friends from work and walked away
with the Best Table topics today.
4/18/08-Four guests today including Boli, Shales,
Erik and Elli(?). Shales turned his paperwork in later
to join. At times this morning it almost seemed like the
"Last Call" for more early morning fun. Rodger
started it off looking for "A Bucket of Prop Wash"
and wishing he had had a quaff of something
better. Clayton stepped up next and tried
a new realm with a humorous story about the "Honeymoon".
Paul went on with "I'm leaving and Won't Be Back"
then he left. Wasn't that fun? Rodger picked up the Best
Speaker today in place of no quaff. Jim
spread his wings to give feedback to the evaluators and
picked off Best Evaluator today. Brenda brought her bag
of goodies today for Table Topics Lee came out of his
shell this morning and picked up the Best Table Topics
with his "wig" and ad for Darcels.
4/11/08-Thank you Erik H. for stepping up and
helping Susan H. out. Susan had a family emergency and
wasn't;t able to make it this morning. Due to all Susan's
pre work she was able to turn over her materials to Erik
and he was able to run the meeting in a most efficient
manner. Suz, Kay and Nathan returned to visit us again.
Rumor has it that Nathan is bringing a check next meeting
to join.
Mark started off the speeches with
"When I grow up" and shared that he may really
want to be a "garbage man" only because Delaney
really thinks the garbage man is pretty cool. Stan took
us back to Hawaii with "Divine Intervention"
which in turn brought him here. His pronunciation of those
Kanaka names is really nice to hear. Sherry shared "What's
the Code" and has us howling. We all have them and
she had us in stitches. She's assured me she will be taking
it to the Fall Humorous Speech contest. Yes! sherry took
Best Speaker today.
Sean was the more pugnacious
of the evaluators giving Mark great food
for thought for even more growth and picked up Best Evaluator
today. Bob J. treated us to fun facts about the IRS. One
of our newest members, Bryan, picked up his first win
by explaining that the Hope credit was a credit to give
us hope about our taxes.
We also learned that Wallmasters
has received one free registration to the May 2 District
Conference in Bend. We also received a trophy from the
District to recognize our nine consecutive years as a
Presidents distinguished club.
4/4/08-Danielle presided for her first time today.
She put in the time to ask for assistance from a veteran
TM, put together an agenda, lined everyone up and did
a splendid job. I can hear the cacophony of applause from
you all now.
We had two guests with Nathan and Carrie attending. Today
we had two prepared speeches with Erik W. presenting "How
the Short Fat Man Changed my Life". Relating a story
while he was overseas and having an epiphany. Miles followed
up with "The Invisible Hand" and explained Adam
Smith's theory of economics. Miles persuaded us with his
description and traded a speech for Best Speaker of the
day. Brenda was GE today and gave helpful feedback to
all evaluators and elevated the crowd to bestow Best Evaluator
to her. Megan came up with spring time questions for TT.
The Noodle captured best TT with his answer to "What's
there to do now that basket ball season is over"
Baseball and golf folks.
Remember the Division contest will
be next Thursday, 4/10/08 at the Beaverton Community Center.
3/28/08-WOW!!! What a job Tom did, let's give
him a hand. Three speakers, evaluations and 12 TT and
out on the dot. Four guests today with
Dan returning and joining along with Kay, Phil and Tom
visiting for a first time. We had two ice breakers this
morning with Raylene and Phyllis plus Eric F. gave his
ninth speech. Phyllis shared her story about a mean older
sister that seemed to resonate and took top honors of
Best Speaker for the day. Table topics were brought to
you by Susan H. She kept us on our toes with our guest/newest
member Dan picking up the Best Table Topics award. Dr.
Sean did a superb job of evaluating the evaluators today
and elevated himself to Best Evaluator.
Remember Area 94 contest at TOC
Sat. 3/29-9:00am
3/21/08- Three guests today including Dan, Mitch
and Todd. Bob J. stepped up to the tee today and tee'd
off just fine. He found that
preparation pays off. Bob P. started with a funny
and humorous talk on Rose wine. Cleon related a little
more about himself in another ice breaker. Danielle gave
us wings and did such a great job she snatched up the
Best Speaker of the Day award. Evaluations were tested
for sure with Dick doing a superb job in giving some useful
and fun feedback to Bob P. Lee came up with a great idea
by using postcards for Table Topics. Miles walked away
with Best Table Topics relaying a story of his daughter
getting married.
The Area 94 contest will be Sat.
Mar. 29, 2008 at 9:30am at TOC.

We had four guests today with Todd,

joined.
3/7/08-Phillis, Jean and Brian attended as guests.
Brian signed up after the meeting. He must have extolled
the way the meeting was run. Bob J. started
us off with a little more info on golfing, especially
"T's". Pam then explained a little about England
and Orthopics (straight vision). In the end Bob used a
good driver to hit a hole in one and walk away with the
Best Speaker of the day award. Our evaluators were extolling
the virtues of their evaluatees. Brenda
gave Pam some great feedback and picked up a win as the
Best Evaluator.
Brenda created the S.M.I.L.E. method:
S-pecifics
M-ovement
I-nteresting
L-imits (time,content)
E-ye contact
Todd stepped up for Table Topics and got right on theme
of "Take a Chance" with questions that provoked
some great answers. Renee expounded on a chance she took
that payed off for her and captured the Best Table Topics.
2/29/08-Hillary, Bob C. and Phyllis came as guests.
Phyllis is bringing the money next week. Simon tested
his wings today and stepped up to something new, being
the Toastmaster. If we didn't know it was a first time
we may have never known as he did a spectacular job. Susan
started us off by "Taking the Leap" with her
version of Detective Susan looking for new members. JIll
has been cogitating and MIle's speech of a few
weeks ago and presented "If it's not bio fuels, then
what?". Miles would have enjoyed
it. Brenda the presented "Oregon's access to Clinical
Trials" and related her own story. It is her presentation
to the Oregon Legislature. She not only inspired up in
the speech she also inspired us to vote her the Best Speaker
of the day. Mark S. was her evaluator and did a fantastic
job of giving feedback and walked away with the Best Evaluator
today. Rodger came up with some great Table Topics and
Stan spoke about what he would do if given the news he
had six months to live, thereby capturing the Best Table
Topics of the day.
Dues are now collectable and payable.
Make checks to Wallmasters in the amount of $36.00 if
you would please and get them to Bob P. our treasurer.
2/22/08-A few guests today: Motuf,Phyliss, John
G.(TM),Dan S.(TM),Brian and Hillary. The
Moments of Truth module was presented today. Amazing how
items were felt that could be improved. Mark, Renee and
Ted put on the program. They offered
up the basics and explanation then held a work
session. With the six guests and three newer members it
worked very well with candidness. There was nothing but
apodictic speaking done today. Mark's moment
of truth came when he snapped up the Best Speaker award
today. Since there were fewer evaluators Cleon was able
to garner the Best Evaluator award today.
Note to all. Greg H. was promoted
by his employer and transferred to Roseburg.
2/15/08-What a great Valentines meeting. Sonja
was ready with a little tapping for us all. Joel broke
the ice and shared stories of love. One might say he is
infatuated with Wallmasters. Cleon was next up
and had no love stories as he talked about Club
Extension for his HPL. Dick then stepped up and explained
how Love comes in Many flavors. Dick's infatuation with
love won him the Best Speakers trophy today. Joel and
Cleon came in the top three. Evaluations were well thought
out and informative with Jim taking the pole position
and going home with the Best Evaluator trophy. Sherry
tested our love and logic with her questions today. Paul
answered the question "Hearts will never be made
practical until they are made unbreakable" as mention
in the Wizard of Oz. Dan K. stepped up
and filled in for Daniel as Table Topics evaluator. One
of our newest members, Joe, stepped up and tried on the
Grammarians hat and did a fine job.
2/8/08-One guest from Lake Oswego Club today
and Raylene turned in her paperwork as a new member. With
a theme of "Play Nice" and everybody be
amilcable we had a studpendous meeting. Erik
W. stepped up and filled in as Toastmaster. That caused
him to push the envelope and do something different. He
pulled it together, with the assistance of Paul and lead
a star packed meeting. How did you like Stan's thought
of the day, it was well thought out and constructed congruously
to give us a great start for the day. We had three wonderful
speakers this morning beginning with Miles presenting
the "Great Ethanol Hoax" and if you were inspired
you should write your legislators. I am sure Miles would
share the facts with you. Sean stepped up to evangelize
the power of networking when in the job search. Giving
us the perennial bell curve to make the point. Be sure
and share with folks you know in the hunt. Joel, once
again, decided to step out of the boundaries and surprise
us. Rather than strip today he became the devil. There
were a few curious eyes watching that knife Joel, so we
awarded him the Best Speaker of the Day. Many examples
of great instructive evaluations. Renee was pressed to
share some wonderful ideas a nd points with Sean for future
speeches. Mark B. pushed a bunch of envelopes with Candidates
day. Squaring off four pairs of political rivals Mark
pushed for quick stump speeches to his liking. Rodger
was J. McCain and gave his most convincing position on
Education thereby giving him the Best Table Topics of
the day.
2/1/08-Hillary, Carter, Julie, Suz, Joe, Raylene
and Pam were all guests today with Pam
and Joe submitting applications for membership.
32 persons in attendance this morning. Lee had his hands
full staying on time and involving so many folks, nice
job Lee. Lee was adamant about staying on time
too. Our speakers today were David getting
us ready for an "audit" and Simon making a quiche.
Simon had our mouths watering and cooked himself up a
Best Speaker of the Day award. Bob P. was adamant
about squeaking the unneeded connectors and slipped off
with Best Evaluator for the Day. Bob J. gave us "Ground
Hog" for Table Topics. We had many great answers
today and Hillary, a guest, made up a game for her class
and took away the Best Table Topics today.
1/26/08-The last winter after the holidays was
another grand success. Be sure and watch for a few pictures
of this event that was held Engval residence. There was
a lot of networking and learning new stories about fellow
members. The pictures are up
folks.
1/25/08-Three guests
today, Joe, Pam and David. Renee had a well prepared
Saga for us today. Our first two
speakers were Megan and Paul , they put on a tag team
training module for us. Explaining the value of the DCP
plan(distinguished club plan) Wallmasters has completed
eight comsecutive years as a Presidents Distinguished
Club. That is the top recognition a club can receive.
We are about to close in on the ninth consecutive year.
Rodger then gave us a lesson in Loadmastering. The game
now is to watch out for the big lizard if fail to tip
the help. Rodger was getting wound up and convinced enough
to vote him as the Best Speaker of the Day. We had plenty
of great evaluations today. Mark S.'s evaluation of Table
Topics was most helpful for both the participants and
us. Mark walked away with the Best Evaluator award today.
Ted had lot's of fun with Table Topics today. Some of
us were stopped at some road construction. Lee's rendition
of what he'd be doing at the road work while stopped had
some of us envisioning another Lee, leading us to vote
him Best Table Topics for the day.
1/18/08- What do you think folks? Didn't Eric
do quite the job this morning? Two guests this morning,
remember to keep bringing your guests because that is
who turns into members. Speeches began with Kristina as
she started us off with "Teeth Vs. Whole" and
talked about cleaning up the chemicals. We then migrated
to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Re..." by Susan
G. She shared:
T hrive
H onor
R each
I nitiate
V ital
E ffort
Miles finished up with a talk about
NAIS. We learned that by 2011 we'll have to have comprehensive
records of all animals our animals come in contact with.
We needn't suss out this one as Miles did it
for us. We were so incensed that Miles won Best Speaker
for the day. Susan H.'s evaluation won accolades as she
picked up the Best Evaluator for the day.Tom put together
some provocative Table Topics. Rest assured that Sean
can assist you between a log and crocodile as he snapped
up Best Table Topics.
Remember the Leadership Forum on
Sat. Jan. 26 at 9:00am. Then later on, 5:30PM the Wallmaster's
Winter Party at Lee's house.
1/11/08- Marvin started the meeting before the
meeting by filling some last minue vacancies to insure
a seamless program. He moved right to our speakers and
brought Dan up to talk about "Smart Goals Can Make
a Better Person" and proceeded to give some examples
including one of his goals too have a girlfriend by 8/31/08.
Dick then cam forward to give us insidious "Lessons
from the Restroom" and Marvin was
hoping it would be a Larry Craig story. Jim stepped up
as a hot seat speaker and gave us much to think about.
Dan's lessons for goals seemed to resonate well enough
to win the Best Speaker of the Day award. Daniel's evaluation
of Dan seemed to catch everyone's attention due to his
clarity and intense listening and he snapped up the Best
Evaluator award. Sonja returned to give us Table Topics
and challenged those to some New Years resolutions. Mark
Bro. snapped a loud command and stirred us awake and also
snapped up the Best Table Topics award.
A big thank you to Mark S. for the coffee today. Do you
all know what he was celebrating? Yup! It was Delaney's
2nd birthday. Happy Birthday Delaney.
1/4/08- The traveler (Steve) returned and started
us off with the thought for the day. Today was "extra"
Table Topics day. Ergo we had only two speakers. Ted gave
us a teaser to his presentation at TLI on 1/12/08. Danielle
then gave us a wonderful lesson on how to plant bulbs
in winter. She planted the flowers and reaped the Best
Speaker of the Day. We tested our evaluators today with
Susan H. cutting the Best Evaluator for herself. Mark
was pressed to get 14 folks involved. Testing their skills
to divuldge why then resolved to do the opposites. Lee
explained why he painted his house red and green and took
away the big prize of Best Table Topics. The meeting was
not replete with time as we had plenty to do.
12/28/07-Clayton ran a good meeting today
and kept us on time. Three prepared speeches.
Marvin started us off with "Telling Stories"
and told such a good story that he won the Best
Speaker of the day. David stepped up and evaluated Cleon
with a supperb job and walked away with the Best evaluator
of the day. Joel turned Table Topics around and livened
things up for us. Daniel's question to Lee topped them
all and Daniel snapped up Best Table
Topics.
Remember the After the Holidays
Party at Lee's on Jan. 26, 2008. TLI (Toastmasters Leadership
Institute) takes place on Sat. Jan. 12, 2008. 10:00am-2:00pm
12/22/07- Results of Wallmaster's Club elections:

12/21/07-How did you like Bob's Red sweater,
put him right in control didn't it? He appeared so mirthful
also. Dave was our guest today thanks to Susan G.
Kristina started us off with her
ice breaker and introduced a little of her. Jill finished
up with "Karma" and shared the value of giving
blood platelets. Daniel gave us another "fantastic"
poem of his own making.
It was so enjoyable that the club voted him Best
Speaker of the day for all the mirth he brought
us. Renee had lots of fun with Table Topics. Cleon was
recipient of the Best Table Topics for his explanation
of the term "go elf yourself".
With all the great evaluations it
was Mark that stodd out as our General Evaluator and his
detailed feedback to our evaluators and he scooped up
the Best Evaluator award.
Don't forget our great Winter gathering
at Lee's house on Jan. 26, 2008. Bring family and friends
and we can show them why Toastmasters is such a great
group to be with. YOU!!!
12/14/07-Steve came as Patrick's guest today.
Three fine speeches today. The Nudel gave us "The
Noodle's three rules of Marriage Proposal". Don't
forget that lasting memory. Dennis followed right up with
"What I Wish for Christmas To Be There" and
delighted us with Bing. Stan stepped up and gave his Ice
Breaker with "Growing up in Hawaii" With very
little Pidgeon English he was able to go home with the
Best Speaker of the Day. Sherry's Table Topics were superlative
and certainly not prodigal. Sean gave us instructions
on shopping for the perfect gift and his gift was Best
Table Topics for the Day. Erik W. evaluated Dennis and
gave some excellent feedback to Dennis for next time and
got the Best Evaluator today.
12/7/07-Two guests today with Mel and Ann, they
brought Sean. In Joel's best form he shook things up this
morning. One could feel the uneasiness among the crowd
yet when all was done and overwith we found we survived.
There was a bit of a maudlin tenseness
in the air. Dan K. gave his ice breaker on short notice
and pointed out the value of "passion". Some
have a passion for Toastmasters and Dan has a passion
for fishing. Greg H. later got up and presented a farewell
speech as he prepares to take on a new position in Roseburg,
wioth a local bank there. There were a few tears, including
Greg, and yet we all know that he won't really be gone,
just a bit farther away. Greg was able to receive the
Best Speaker of the day award.
Table topics was based on floods
and Miles lead that portion, living in Vernonia he is
well aware of a floods devastation. Bob
P. picked up the Best Table Topics award today with his
rendition of reasons why one wouldn't purchase flood insurance.
Susan G. was Table Topics evaluator and did such a fine
job of listening that she picked up the Best Evaluator
award.
We passed the hat this morning and
collected money for the flood victims.
11/30/07- Dan and Kristina returned as guests
and left as new members plus Barbara came as a new guest.
There were spontaneous outbreaks at times but the meeting
was well planned out by Tom on his first outing as Toastmaster.
Three fantastic speeches today starting with Bob P. "Getting
to the Point". Daniellethen stepped up and reminded
us of the value of charity and what she learned. Jim N.
then wound it up with a talk on "Drinking, Driving
and defining Moments". Jim sobered up enough to win
Best Speaker of the day. Erik W. provided a great set
of discerning questions to challenge our Table Topics
today. Greg made up a holiday and at the same time announced
that he will soon be moving to Roseburg to accept a new
opportunity. He did such a great job that he persuaded
enough votes to capture Best Table Topics for the day.
Once again we saw growth in evaluations. Marving gave
Danielle some excellent tips and also
picked up Best evaluator.
After holiday
winter party:
Saturday January 26, 2008-5:30pm-9:00pm
Location will be at Lee's house
11/23/07-The meeting was sans guests today. Remember
the saying that "Three people make a Toastmasters
Meeting"? Today proved that out with the crowd we
had. There were two wonderful speeches. You should have
been there. Sherry talked about "Right / Left or
Right / Wrong". It was quite the a composition as
she took us to Europe and Canada. Bob then composed a
masterpiece on a "Roadmap to your financial stability".
He showed us the "Secret".
Dennis picked up the slack and was
Toastmaster for the day. Both Bob and Sherry won Best
Speaker of the day and Dennis walked
away with Best Toastmaster for the day.
There being no further business
the meeting was adjourned.
11/16/07-Kristina and Stan returned as guests
today and Stan turned in his paperwork and was voted in.
Daniel put in the pre time to build his team and it showed.
Great humor in his opening remarks. Mark Brown led off
with an explanation of reverse mortgages. Sean followed
by telling us about his impending divorce. Sonja became
passionate about "Life with a passion". They
were all three great speeches. Sean's speech about his
divorce from his automible made us all laugh and vote
him the Best speaker for the day. Mile's evaluation of
Sonja was most experiencial and not at all spurrilous.
He snapped up a win today as best evaluator. Susan H.'s
Table Topics were great. Lee's tale about ugly babies
won him the Best Table Topics for the day.
Remember that we will be having
a meeting next week at the World Financial Group offices
on 72nd. Come ob down and see what role you get.
11/9/07- Talk about a warison for more
members you certainly did that again today. Stan
and Kristina came back and are contemplating joining.
Caroline, Dan and Ray were first timers. Didn't Sherry
do a great job today? We had three wonderful speeches
today. Jim took us on a walk along the Freedom Trail in
Boston, then David took us back to his meeting of his
wife with "Hey-Hey, come and get me". Remember
that hat. Lee took us to the office and discussed what
was happening with a competitor leaving town. Jim's story
about the freedom Trail seemed to strike a note with the
theme today of Veterans and garnished him the Best speaker
of the day. Table Topics came in the form of fortune cookies
from Rodger today. Sean's rendition of "someone will
make you proud" as he related his special time now
with his Granddaughter. Tom has been growing very nicely
and it showed today with his evaluation of David and he
snapped up the Best Evaluator today.
11/2/07- Jim brought Steve today, who's wanted
to attend for quite a while. Today is TT day. We had two
prepared speakers with Jim giving us "Game Day Saturday".
If you doubt his loyalty to the Ducks you should have
seen this. Clayton then stepped to tell us a story. Now
we know how to get others to believe our spouse is not
telling the truth. Clayton convinced us so that we voted
him best speaker of the day.Paul decided no to give us
fictional Table Topics so he made us stretch and dig deep.
Simon discussed the underlying character flaws in his
politcal opponent and won the Best Table Topics for the
day. We had more excellent evaluations amking it hard
to decide. In the end though Bob P's. evaluation of TT
snapped up the Best Evaluator spot.
10/26/07-...And you thought Brent was nothing
but an umbra. He along with Kristina returned
to visit and Brent rejoined Wallmasters. He was overwelmed
at the electricity and seeing what he had been missing.
We had two scheduled speakers and one
hot seat speaker. Tom spoke on his experiences overseas
encouraging and calling us to consider volunteering our
time or home to one from afar. Greg told us all and more
than you wanted to know about credit scores. He covered
so much in such a short time and kept us engaged to learn
all we can. Do you remember the web address?
Annual Credit Report
...and the winner was! Tom wasn't
so spooky and picked up the win today as Best Speaker
of the day.
Moving to Table Topics, Robert stepped
with some spooky questions for us. Paul's description
of describing the difference between spooky and horror
had us all wondering as he dumped the ice water on the
heads of those bratty children. That won Paul the best
Table Topics of the day.
As Daniel spends more time doing
Toastmaster duties we see his talents grow and Friday
was no difference as he captured the Best Evaluator of
the day.
Remember the District
Conference in Eugene on Nov. 17. If this is your first
time you are entitled to a reduced rate of $80 plus room.
10/19/07- Donna, Christina and Jean were guests
today. "Make Mine a Double" was not only the
theme today but the amalgamation that flowed
throughout the meeting. Greg had the meeting well planned.
He made a few last minute changes and we progressed nicely
into our three prepared speeches. Bob J. decided "Early
to Bed and Early to Rise" was a great way to market.
Rodger took us on a plane ride to Egypt where he had some
coffee that was more like oil. Patrick started us off
with his ice breaker. Took us over to Central Oregon and
learned how a tall statuesque woman caught his eye. So
he married her and we awarded the Best Speaker award to
Patrick.
Some really greata evaluations today
but the guy most likely to hit and run won. None other
than Paul for evaluating Table Topics. Speaking of Table
Topics, Bob P. gave us his final meal order. It will probably
take a week to prepare so he extends his final days for
a week.
Remember that 10/23 is the Division
Contest and Brenda would love to have all the support
she can gather. On 10/24 we'll have our speech-a-thon
at TOC at 5:30pm. Come one come all.
10/12/07- Three
guests today, one previous Blvd. Toastmasters member with
his lovely bride and Jim N. who subsequently joined before
leaving. It was definitely a Duck and Beaver
for all involved. Three learned speeches with
Steve walking away with the Best Speaker of the Day as
he revealed he has ADD.
Evaluations were upbeat as usual
yet informative for all. Mark S. captured the coveted
Best Evaluator award with his evaluation of Dennis today.
Lee lead us in Table Topics with questions about what
did she/he mean when they said ? Danielle grabbed the
Best Table Topics award bu answering the question of what
does her husband mean when he asks if he can go out bowling.
All we know is she is banking a lot of personal girl time
now. (wink)
Who all noticed the tremendous growth
in Daniel? He has obviously crossed another hurdle as
he stepped up and ran the meeting with aplomb.
Remember-
Brenda will be competing at the Division contest Tuesday,
Oct. 23, 2007- 6:00pm at the Elsie Stuhr Center on Hall
Street in Beaverton. You could assist her in capturing
the top spot with your presence.
10/05/07-Humorous Speech Contest- we had three
guests. Robin from Beaverton joined us. and who was that
man and child ? We had five contestants:
Brenda
Joel
Tom
Cleon
Steve
...and the winner is: Brenda in
first place with Tom coming in at second place. The winner
will compete Sat. Oct. 6, 2007- 9:30am at TOC. in the
Area 94 contest.
9/27/07-If you have notes as to what happened
and who won etc. I can post if you'll let me know.
9/22/07- Please
note!!! The schedule has changed for next week
because we need to get out Humorous speech Contest and
Table Topics contest done in order to be ready for the
Area 94 contest on Sat. Oct. 6. That contest will even
be held at TOC from 9:00am to Noon. Don't forget to mark
your calendars and be there to support
our club winners.
9/21/07- Today's meeting did not happen because
of thaumaturgy, it happened and ran well because
Mark worked ahead of time to make it work. Some of us
kept waiting for our guests to show yet they failed to
appear. That's ok as maybe next week they will remember.
We had two ice breakers and a second speech today. We
learned more about two of our newest members Todd and
Dick. Susan H.gave a heart touching speech that made many
of us give thought to our heritage and relatives and also
captured the Best Speaker of the Day award. We had great
evaluations for the meeting with so much to learn. In
the end though it was decided that Miles would be our
Best Evaluator today. Susan G. stepped up with questions
for Table Topics to tag onto her previous speech about
The POwer of Four. Daniel talked about traveling when
he was young and ran away with the Best Table Topics for
today.
9/14/07- Did you all notice how Clayton opened
up with a great story that flowed with the meeting. Great
job Clayton. We had one guest with Alan returning. There
arose such a clamber up at the lectern.
There were three prepared speeches beginning
with Jill as she persuaded us to think about maximizing
our time to get the most amount of participation of as
many members as possible. Megan certainly had us all going
with her press release by Kenneth Lay. Erik H. stepped
with "You Never Know" as his talk. Revealing
several great anecdoctal stories
as he revealed the value of giving to our communities.
Even greater was when he saw the value of his son become
involved. Erik must have convinced us since he secured
the Best speaker for the day. Evaluations ran the gamut
and were executed with professionalism. Bob P. was able
to show how it is done and racked up another Best Evaluator
for the day. Marvin had us all thinking with favorites
and least favorites from school daze. Lee created a scene
and almost smell that we could reckon with as he described
his least favorite lunch at school.....the bean burrito
lunch. You figure it out.
9/8/07- Wallmasters Picnic. Another great event
all made possible by Wallmasters members. Thank you Daniel
and Mark for the setup help and cooking by Daniel and
for Mark for returning to help in the teardown and cleanup.
We also had a few guests and other
Toastmasters that just love our club, attend. There was
plenty of friendship, talk, sharing and the weather was
"fantastic". The food was lucious, mouthwatering
and piqaunt with the great variety. Now we are looking
forward to our Winter gathering. Be sure and check out
"who we are" for
some pictures.
9/7/07- At times Ted thought he had approached
the autumn of his life. What
really happened is we all learned more about making another
successful meeting. Ted came up against unexpected, last
minute changes to his well laid out plan
and put it back together. Alan showed up as a guest today
and even showed up Sat. to the picnic. Since someone overslept
and missed their chance to speak, no names here but his
initials are Max, Ted turned around the schedule held
Table Topics first. Bob J. stepped up as Table Topics
Master and asked 19 folks questions about the theme today,
Back to School. It was a rousting round of whitch Erik
W. proudly snagged Best Table Topics for his rendition
of what he couldn't tell us what was in his locker at
school. But now we will all be looking for "Dori".
Brenda had some great feedback and suggestions for how
to handle a situation like this in the future. Brenda
was awarded Best Evaluator for her endeavors. As for speaker,
did you notice the trick to winning Best Speaker of the
day? Volunteer to speak when there are no other speakers
<wink>.
8/31/07- Were you reinvigorated Ladys
and Gentlemen? We had another packed
house today with three guests. Christopher was invited
by Mark Brow., Donna D. returned to be reivigorated
and Patrick not only returned to visit us he also joined
at the end. We had three well prepared speeches with Daniel
espousing the virtues of plastic bottles
and other ways to save on plastic. Miles burned the American
flag and still sleeps. He elaborated for us though. Paul
started us off with "Collateral Damage" and
you can just say no to polititians. It was almost a political
speech and he WON Best Speaker of the
Day with his Jingoistic slogans. The propensity to up
our evaluations skills grows every week. This week was
no different and Erik H. walked away with the Best Evaluator
of the day for his help to Daniel. Table Topics were about
vacations. The gamut ran from Nebraska, Alsak, China,
Jamaica, Hawaii, Barstow to Greg's back
yard. And wouldn't you know that Greg took top honors
for his topic about the loud neighbor kids in the pool.
Remember Next Sat. is the BBQ.
8/24/07-What a gorgeous morning, wasn't it. Then
we had four guests today. Angela visited from Noontime
Nomads and brought Calvin, a guest. Don, our Area Gov.
, attended and made his semi annual visit. Don was a new
visitor and plans to return next week. He was impressed
with you all. What did you think of those speeches? Bob
J. started us off with a memorable experience with camping
and bears. That moved to skydiving or parachuting, as
one would have it. Some of us felt we were there and Bruce
followed up with a little spice in your life with quite
a lessen in chilis. Mark, our skydiver , took the dive
for Best Speaker of the Day. Did you really hear(listen)
to Mile's evaluation today? It was and exceptional example
of his own growth and valuable feedback for Bruce. Miles
was able to ameliorate his evaluation today to new highs.
Greg was ready and fell into the theme well, There must
be a better way, and challenged us with Table Topics today
fitting in ten folks. Our guest Calvin stepped right up
and explained that coming out west was a much better way
to earn a living.
8/19/07- Wallmasters
Summer BBQ
Sat. Sept. 8, 2007-11:00am-4:00pm
8/17/07- ...and they just keep coming. Another
30 folks today with Nancy, Noah, Ed and Dan as guests.
Noah is a fellow Toastmaster visiting, and Dan is a Past
President of Wallmasters. There was no time for expatiating
today. Three well prepared speeches today with Rodger
checking out with the Best Speaker of the Day as he informed
us of the "....dangerous library card" Table
Topics fit into the theme by David. Danielle told about
her most embarrassing moment when she walked in on someone,
using the bathroom to which she said "I've got to
go now" thereby picking uthe Best Table Topics for
the day. Many great evaluations today. Dick came out and
gave his first Toastmasters evaluation in a while and
captured the best Evaluator today as he gave Megan a few
great tips.
8/10/07- Oh boy, what a day for clothing. Mark
all decked out and others disrobing. Reflections of Matt
Neidermeyer. Then of course there was another member that
experienced their first time to relive them self in the
woods. What a team.
Three interesting and fun speeches.
It was so apparent how we learn and share far more than
just speaking. Robert M. gave his ice breaker
and acquainted us with him and what he is doing.
Next was Joel, comparing graphs to life and how he lost
his shirt. Lee rounded out the speaking time as he discussed
assertive actions and depression about his dry cleaning
not being done correctly. Joel's lack of atrophying energy
and putting his pants back on won him the Best Speaker
of the day. Many old hands evaluating today, and the newer
members did a fantastic job. Paul wound up snapping up
the Best Evaluator slot. Table Topics were made up with
explanations of idioms, as explained by Clayton. Sean
stepped right up and dove head first into "Going
to Hell in a Hand basket" He obviously convinced
enough of us to vote for him as he claimed the Best Table
Topics today.
8/3/07- Brenda put together a fantastic meeting
and made her replacements smoothly. We had Bob and Jim
as guests today. Ted started us off talking about assertive
behavior and how to handle it. From there Sean went into
humor and told us about the virtue of having no car. He
almost whiffed his joke. Sean had
to carry his winning award home today as Best Speaker
of the day. Evaluations were direct and up to par for
sure with Miles giving a superb Gen. Eval. and picking
up another Best Evaluator award. David learned more about
golf today as he queried us with questions about the game
of golf. Dick, new member, didn't whiff and parred
a win as Best Table Topics for the day.
7/27/07- Another great meeting and I had to miss
it. If you have any appropriate notes to post about it
please send along to me.
7/20/07- Talk about judgement,
whoever let Erik
W. in with that suit. ...and to think my battery was
dead so I couldn't even take a picture of it.
We had four guests today, returnees Todd, Dick,
Jean and Phil. 26 folks in attendance again. Two great
speeches with Max leading off talking about marketing
101 and what he's learned about it. Lee then worked out
of an advanced manual and talked about coaching. It appears
Lee coached us all into voting him as the Best Speaker
of the day. With the many evaluations Bob P. stepped up
to capture the Best Evaluator award, exemplifying why
he was District 7's Best Evaluator just a few years ago.
Picture this if you will, Paul eating bacon, much less
talking about how great it smells and the taste. He pulled
us all in toalking about toast fried in bacon grease and
picked up another greasy award as Best Table Topics.
7/13/07- There was no Triskaidekaphobia
today for our first timer Toastmaster Mark Brow. He was
up for the challenge. Did you all notice we were out at
8:00am? You are the coolest Mark. We
had three guests today with Dick and Robert returning.
Todd was a first timer brought by Dick. Three great speeches
with Susan H. delivering her Ice Breaker and
sharing her many passions in her attainment of
what she wants to be when she grows up. Rodger then gave
us a heart tugging story in a mystery that kept us on
the edge of our seats until the end. Daniel then gave
us a story about "Life Lessons of a Pizza Deliver
Boy". It is a good thing he has now had an ethics
course. Daniel delivered such a great pizza that he was
rewarded with the Best Speaker of the day. Table Topics
by Bruce was entertaining. Greg garnered the Best Table
Topics award whe he told us that biggest decision he ever
made was not to become a full time comedian. Renee returned
to sweep the Best Evaluator award as she evaluated Daniel
with some excellent suggestions for next time.
7/6/07-We had three guests today with Dan, Ken
and Joe attending with Dan joining and being voted in
this morning. Making it another victory for Wallmasters.
Our Toastmaster was "wining" about his on line
phote, oh well...<WEG> Megan gave
us the low down on health insurance via a radio dialogue.
Bob P. gave some of the values of what Toastmasters
has to offer besides the obvious one of speaking
and even was able to elude to wine. Mark H. gave his ice
breaker and reminded us of that famous and latter crazy
poet Ezra Pound. Mark snagged his first Best Speaker award
this morning. Erik H. evaluation of Bob P. was
so good that he walked away with the Best Evaluator Award
today. Dennis presented a trying Table Topics today for
us. Bringing back the coins he perplexed a few folks.
Erik W. was able to convince us that Oregon was his favorite
state even though he was born a Prune Picker.
6/29/07-
6/22/07- WOW!!!
You should have been there if you weren't. What a show
today. No guests and we had a full house, three speeches
and 14 Table Topics participants and we were out in about
93 minutes. You are all fabulous. It is no wonder why
we are an Eight time Presidents Distinguished Club going
for number nine in a row.
Bob J. came aptly dressed for his
talk about his favorite past time golf.Kept watching for
a club to appear. David took
the stage and shared some heart rendering
experiences and feelings with us. Eric F. started us off
with his research of public schools with the pro's and
con's. Combined with his research then compelling delivery
he was awarded the best improved speaker for today. Guess
I'll have to invite Eric F. and Mark S. to attend a school
board meeting with me since they both have children for
the local school district. Simon took over the lectern
and gave an impervious evaluation of Bob J. which afforded
him the Best Evaluator of the day award. Danielle was
well prepared today for her Table Topics and promptness
by getting 14 people involved, matching celebrities for
the topic " We have to talk". It was quite hillarious
and fun. Everyone loves Steve's diatribe of Richard Simmons
talking to Rosie O'Donnell. What a morning.
You'll love the
quote for the week that is now posted.
6/15/07- It is summer and we had 22 attendees,
of which two were guests. Kay returned after a year and
Dick returned after a long respite. We paid tribute
to Dads throughout the meeting. Two scheduled
speakers with JIll taking us to the Greek Isles. dick
stepped up to give an impromptu speech about "Dear
Old Dad" and gave the audience some more insight
to the art of speaking. Dick happens to be the author
of the Quote of the Day that we see posted on our website.
Bruce had started us off with his Ice Breaker
"Da Yooper" and lent new insight to Bruce. In
turn Bruce was rewarded with the Best Speaking award for
the day. Sean handled Table Topics with aplomb and squeezed
ten attendees in. He queried us about attributes about
Dad. One of our newest members, Tom S. to the prize with
his description of a saying that would describe his Dad...."Doh!!!"
We had many great evaluations today and Mark S. captured
Best Evaluator as the GE.

6/1/07- 35 in attendance this morning, there
was nary a disconsolate soul in the room.
Guests were susan H., Dan, Christina, Marcus
and Mark H. who also became our newest member.
Today was experiment in alternative
meetings, we had six impromtu speeches with no oral evaluations.
The theme was "Childhood memories" which proved
fun and boisterous for all. Best Speaker of the day went
to Sherry as she told us how to sail and boat and about
how she is still awaiting for Zorro to come sweep her
away. Best evaluator went to Mark S. for his phenominal
job as GE. Best Table Topics went to Susan H., a guest,
for her reply to living in the past or the future to which
she claimed the future.

5/25/07-Dan returned and brought Susan
as guest's of Erik H. and can you believe Erik didn't
even show? What a guy. Today was an optimal meeting,
great meeting, great weather and a fun morning.
Two scheduled speakers and one hot seat speech.
Cleon lead off with a call for leadership with Marvin
telling us more about Jerry. Our newest member, Joel,
stepped up to the plate and volunteered to do a hot seat
Ice Breaker speech. As much as he has presented in front
of groups in the past he felt almost intimidated yet he
pulled it off with great aplomb. He did
such a good job that he acquired his first Best Speakers
award. Erik W. had great fun with the crowd with his Table
Topics, maybe we will make him permanent Table Topics
Master. Megan wound up capturing Best Table Topics with
her rendition of "Summer Luvin' ". With all
the great evaluations Miles took the coveted trophy home
for the Best Evaluator" for the day.
Remember that we will be electing
new officers for the new term to begin July 1, 2007.
5/18/07- Dan, Tom and Joel started out as guests
this morning and Joel submitted his paperwork and was
voted in. Welcome aboard Joel. Special recognition was
paid to and given to Mark S. for attaining his DTM (Distinguished
Toastmaster's award). Mark gave a brief thank you and
overview of what it is and how the club assisted him.
We then moved to our two speeches where
Sean and Sonya gave outstanding presentations.
Sonya described her trek along the small publisher's route
and Sean told us how he learned all he needed to know
in Sunday School. We must have believed Sean as he was
voted Best Speaker of the Day. Best Evaluator went to
Will for his great evaluation of Sonya. Brenda wiggled
through her definitition of the acronym NRA as being "Not
required Answer" and banged another Best Table Topics
award.
Effective immediately you
will see the "Invocator title " has been changed
to "Thought for the Day".
5/11/07- Five guests today with Mark H., Joel,
John G., and two from David's family. Looks like Joel
and Mark will soon be members. There was a lot of "progeny"
in the room this morning.Three fun speeches today with
Clayton starting off by giving a talk, from a TM module
and deviating to make his point of "first person,
second person and third person". Moving then to Danielle
talking about "Mother's Daughter" and reaching
the bell. Bob J. finished his first story about "I
am Not the Dog Whisperer". Clayton's concept seemed
to ring true as he got "Mom's" vote for Best
Speaker of the Day. Mark Bro. did such a great improved
job of evaluating today that his obtained the Best Evaluator
award for the day. Sherry presented some great Mom questions
for us. We got ten folks into Table Topics and Greg wowed
us what lessons he learned over mothers knee and snapped
up the best TT award today. His kitchen nook is now totally
papered in awards.
5/4/07- Mark H. returned today as a guest with
indications of signing up soon. Two speakers today with
Rodger giving his Ice Breaker. Rodger surprised many with
his delivery, props and story of becoming a man at a young
age. Just remember Uncle "Odge". For Rodger
is rained the Best Speakers award today. Table topics
was about international road signs from the car man, Mark
S. Mark H. sped off with the Best Table Topics today as
our guest. Many great evaluations and Bob P. gave such
an informational evaluation for Rodger that he picked
up the Best Evaluator for the day.
4/27/07- Wow!!! 31 attendees this morning including
five guests. Those guests today were Mark (Greg's son),
Russ (Mark Bran.'s Boss), Donna, Gabriele and Jean-Paul(David's
son). Even the parking lot was full. Sherry had her hands
full with such a large attendance and she handled
things well. Three speeches to challenge us. Sonja
cam e back to explain the fun of Western Swing dancing,
with a few moves to show us. Brenda gave a clear program
on the big screen and some stats about cancer. Will followed
with a request for more SMART readers. You all got your
yellow hand out to fill out, how many will follow-up?
Will not only persuaded us to give thought to signing
up he persuaded us to vote him as Best Speaker of the
day. With all the great evaluations today Erik H. was
able to capture Best Evaluator for his evaluation of Brenda.
Dennis put together another interesting Table Topics.
Paul was adept in his formulation of an answer to snag
the Best Table Topics for the day.
Remember that May 4 & 5 is the
District Conference.
4/20/07- Two guests today with one new member
from the guests. You now see Audette on your latest roster.
One late member today, no names but her initials are Megan.
Some members today considered themselves propitious
in nature and in life. Yet the "Harder I work in
life the luckier I am". Once again
Daniel showed us how attendance and perserverance and
hard work can put together an excellent meeting. We had
three prepared speakers with Mark starting us of and getting
us to YES. Ted stepped up and showed how much he has grown
and presented he is listing his house with mark and did
a role play. No folks, the meeting wasn't really about
Mark. Bob P. then proceded to discuss sustainability and
wine, who would have ever thunk. The complaint seemed
to stem around the fact that
Bob didn't furnish us all with samples...Oh well instead
we bestowed upon Bob the Best Speakers Award for the day
anyway. (Maybe next time?) Miles decided to dig into our
historical minds and have us talk about historical events,
whether or not that we remembered. Apparently starting
off with Audette did not dissuade her from joining. Cleon
took us on a journey over the hot sands of the N. African
desert and swept up the Best Table Topics award.
Not only was Paul propitious enough to be Grammarian
and listen for our ah's and um's he cleverly captured
the Best Evaluator's award for the day.
4/13/07- Who said they had treskaidekaphobia?
It seemed to work very well for everyone today.
Several guests were among us today including Donna, Audette
and Gabrielle of Tram Talkers. Brenda got all decked out
for us today as she led us through "You Make me feel
like dancing".
Mars showed us how to talk with
a mouth full of "fishy" marbles and Mark percieved
us to percieve him. Erik H. shared some uplifting poems
and thoughts which in turn netted him the Best Speaker
of the day award. Danielle had us thinking about who we'd
be dancing with for Table Topics. Will talked about dancing
with a stranger and how good that would be to dance away
with the Best Table Topics this morning. Greg evaluated
the Table Topics, even though he danced around a few and
snagged the Best evaluators award.
Remember that this Monday will be
the Division Contest at the Beaverton Community Center
at 6:00pm. They could really use some help to make it
a great contest. Remember it was the 2004 Division contest
that Randy Harvey participated in before he went on to
win the World Championship of Public Speaking. "Be
there or be square" does that work
anymore...<WEG>
4/7/07- Saturday was Daniel's "FANTASTIC"
day as he scooped up the runner up position for Area 94
contest in the Evaluation Contest. He will move on to
the Division contest on Mon. Apr, 16 at 6:00pm at the
Beaverton Community Center.
4/6/07- Erik H.'s
inspiring humor was great this morning. We had one
late arriving guest this morning. It was a packed meeting
again.Bob J. started us off with "Best of Breed"
and enlighten and inspired us to give dog competition
some thought. Simon then shared
some valuable knowledge on how to buy a computer
by using a restaurant as an analogy. Mark S. stepped up
and shared with us that he will be attending his 20 year
high school reunion and how much smarter his parents are
now that he is older. His vetting of the truth won him
the Best Speaker of the day award. Mile's TT were based
on sayings by Will Rogers, we were to define the inspiration
for them. Will describes some of the
draw backs to kicking a cow chip on a hot day and chipped
his way to Best Table Topics speaker of the day.
We had many inspiring evaluations today yet Kurt
surfaced as the Best Evaluator for the day.
Remember the Area 94 contest tomorrow,
Sat. 4/7/07 at the Tigard City Hall on Hall Blvd. Time
is 1:00pm and 12:30pm for contestants and helpers. Please
come out and support Sherry and Daniel as they compete
to move on to the Division contest Mon. Apr. 16, 2007
at the Beaverton Community Center at 5th and Hall in Beaverton
at 6:30pm.
3/30/07- Today we sported two guests, Suzanne-Pauls
wife and Sophia-Erik's daughter. The crowd was feeling
quite felicitous and giggly. Mars began
by talking about sustainability in an almost capricious
manner. Lee was next with an advanced manual speech about
defusing criticism. Sophia was our surprise speaker, about
the "Dish and the Spoon" She did a great job
of memorization with a very cute rendition of several
fairytales. We all thought she did so well that Sophia
was selected as Best Speaker of the day. Danielle evaluated
Lee and did a wonderful job with her feedback. Several
folks in the audience remarked on her tremendous growth.
Clayton did a superlative job with his praise and insightful
feedback to Sophia for her next time. Paul was using his
analytical skills to work with Mars on how to improve
his delivery about a growing and "Sustainable"
topic. Paul's wisdom and delivery earned him the Best
Evaluator for the day. Table Topics were a challenge today
as Jill gave opposing names for us to discuss and talk
about. Cleon was given Hitler and Churchill and was to
discuss their discussion in the afterlife. He compared
them to today's Trump and O'Donnell and walked away with
the Best Table Topics.
3/23/07- Today was our International Speech Contest
and Evaluation contest. We had one guest today, Marcus.
Bob P. pulled together all the loose ends to bring the
meeting in order. We had four Speech contestants and three
evaluation contestants. Paul stepped right up and took
a big drink of water from a fire hose as he learned more
about the Chief Judges role. The Speech contestants were:
Ted-Lester and practicing mindfulness
Marvin- Peanut butter chocolate
banana cream pie
Greg-Upgrade
Sherry-Three stories twenty hearts
Steve J. gave us all a run for our
money as the target speakers for the evaluation contest.
The contestants were:
Mark S.
Daniel
Cleon
...and the winners are:
International Speech contest
1st-Sherry
2nd-Greg H.
Evaluation contest:
1st-Cleon
2nd-Daniel
Remember that Area 94 contest will
be held on Sat. Apr. 7, 2007 at 12:30pm at the Tigard
